  • Slow Jam with Joel! Wednesday, August 7, 2013!

Welcome to BUG's Slow Jam.  "Slow down, you move too fast...", the first lyric of Paul Simon's '59th Street Bridge Song'  also expresses a feeling I'm sure we've all had while learning an unfamiliar chord, song, lick, harmony... anything new for that matter... a desire to take it slow at first, just so we can get a handle on it.  This is the purpose of the Slow Jam. Yes, we hope to create the ideal environment for beginner uke players to gain confidence and musicianship.

Just starting out on the uke?  This is for you.  For those of us who are a bit further along, it could be a great place to workshop those new skills and chord shapes that we 'kind of know' but that aren't quite up to snuff yet.  Chord shapes up the neck?  Taking a solo?  Harmony singing?  Whatever you'd like to work on, this is a space to do it. Think of the cool group arrangements that can come out of it!

Check out the tunes in advance if you have the time.  If there are any other songs from the BUG Songlist that you'd love to play, please email the title to me (joeljacqu@gmail.com) and we'll be sure to try it at one of our slow jams.

COST:  $5 for the evening   $10 per family   (Free for kids accompanied by parents)

TIME: Singing goes from 7 until 10 BUT COME EARLY - anytime after 5:30 for dinner/drinks/snacks, ukulele noodling and camaraderie!

WHERE:  The Clocktower Brew Pub, lower level, 575 Bank St, Ottawa

The format of the evening will be the same as the main BUG Jam. Music starts at 7:00 and goes until 10:00 with a break and an open mic in the middle. Come as early as you wish to have dinner and relax.

    See you there!

    Joel
