  • Canada Day Up Canada Way BUG Jam! June 17, 2015!

Sue Rogers posted on June 17, 2015 19:32

    When:    Wednesday, June 17

Where:   Clocktower Brew Pub, 575 Bank St, lower level

Time:     7 - 10 p.m. But come early to enjoy dinner, drinks, noodling, and camaraderie with all your uke friends! Doors open at 5:30. The Clocktower Brew Pub offers us a private room at no charge, with our own fabulous servers - Emily and Bill! Emily and Bill magically remember the names and orders of almost 100 people every jam (and not always the same people!) We want to support the heck out of them and the Clocktower!

By popular request, we'll be playing songs about Canada or by Canadian singers or songwriters! A lot of talent and songs to choose from across all eras! Here's a little sampling to get you all fired up: https://youtu.be/gkakojAZS08!! Stompin' Tom, Paul Anka, Walk Off the Earth, Tragically Hip, Spirit of the West, Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot, Manitoba Hal, James Hill, Charles de Lint, Mike Cox, David Mayerovitch, The Guess Who, The Once, The Swinging Belles, Shelley Posen, Hank Snow, Steppenwolf, Blood Sweat and Tears, etc. etc. - the list is NEVERENDING! What a talented bunch we Canadians are, eh?!

You can pick songs we've done before from the SONGS page, or submit a new song. Here's some suggestions to research - see if you can put together words and chords: http://www.strongwords.ca/files/Canadiantop100.html. Send your songs to Sue at ukulelema@icloud.com If you can provide the lyrics, chords, and best yet put the chords within the [D7] text like [C] this, that's the ultimate!

    Can hardly wait!

So you see how polite we Canadians are, eh? We're closing the Canada Day Up Canada Way BUG jam with an American tune about Alaska :)

Alaska should be in Canada, it's way up in our business.
