An amazing weekend of ukulele fun on the shores of beautiful Georgian Bay!!
Just a 5 hour drive from Ottawa across some of the prettiest countryside. It'll be an eastern Ontario ukulele convoy!
There will be a Saturday night concert, workshops, open mics, a Friday evening cruise, and lots of jamming, including the wild, late night PyJAMa jams led by Mark and me!
Guest artists this year are two-time Grammy Award Winners, Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer, master musicians with a career spanning over 35 years! I've heard great things about these two artists' performances and workshops through my ukulele network! Cynthia Kinnunen will also be back as a performer and workshop leader - an excellent presenter. She's a level 3 James Hill teacher and has her university degree in music as well as having compled the Royal Conservatory program. Other workshop leaders include Douglas Cameron, Heather Katz, The Fruity Ukuladies, and Sean McGaughey.
Check out the Midland Uke Fest website for info about the artists, ticket sales, and accommodations:
Note: The wacky, wonderful, late night pyJAMa Jams (yes...you're encouraged to wear your pyjamas and slippers!) will once again be led by Mark and me! We'll be at the Quality Inn & Conference Centre, 924 King St., Midland. They have a great big room for the jam that will easily accommodate everybody! We'll project the songsheets on a big screen. If you're booking a room at the Quality Inn, or at any of the festival hotels, the booking code is UKE FEST.
WHEN: Friday to Sunday, May 17, 18, and 19, 2018
WHERE: Midland Cultural Centre, 333 King Street, Midland ON
CARPOOLING: Ottawa folks, if you need a drive, or if you have space in your car and want someone to share expenses, please email me and I'll try to make connections.
WHAT TO BRING: ukulele, kazoos, any of your own songsheets for songs you might like to play at open mic or for impromptu jamming with friends, music stand, and be prepared to party!
Looking forward to spending a fun weekend with BUGs, and meeting old friends and new friends from around the province!
