Hi everyone,

It's the Ottawa Folklore Centre's (OFC) 35th anniversary, and BUG has been asked to participate in the celebratory concert at the Mayfair Theatre on Sunday, November 13 from 7:00 to 9 p.m. We would be opening the 2nd half and have about 6 minutes to play. Please be sure to check the Bytown Ukulele Group Google site for the latest information/communications about this event!

It would be terrific to get out as many BUG members as possible to participate in this concert - to show our support for OFC AND how much fun we have every month at our BUG sessions!

This is a fundraiser for the Hospice at Maycourt    

Tickets - $20 + $1 printing/handling + HST = $23.73

We've compiled a medley of 3 chord songs (using C F G G7) that we'll be performing. Mark and I have recorded a demo so that you can play along and get an idea of the songs, and transitions between songs.

We’ll meet at the Stella Luna Gelato Café, 1103 Bank Street, right beside the Ottawa Folklore Centre (OFC)  http://slgelato.com/location/ at 6:15 in the back room. We’ll hand out our fabulous BUG t-shirts and last minute instructions for our performance. That should leave plenty of time to head over and grab a seat! Again, if anyone can volunteer to play bring and/or play a kazoo during “Down on the Corner” that would be great!

Right now the word is that we’ll be the first act after intermission. We’ll be playing at 8:00 p.m.

So if you haven’t bought a ticket and you’re sitting at the Café, enjoying the OFC Jazz Band, make sure you’re in the Mayfair theatre at 7:50 at the latest to set up for our gig!

After talking with the OFC people today, we understand that you DO NOT have to bring a music stand. They will have music stands available for us as well as a few seats for those BUGs that would prefer to sit.

Bring:

A little battery operated clip on light if you have it because it is dark;

Ukulele;

Uke strap; and

Crazy enthusiasm! Let’s show ‘em what makes us special!

5 or 6 of us will be front and centre, with the others ranged across the front and up the aisles. We may or may not have our songs showing on the screen (TBD). We’ve provided the OFC with our Powerpoint presentation but it’s still uncertain whether they can make it happen.

The concert is scheduled from 7 until 9. We can always congregate after at the Stella Luna Gelato Café – it’s open until 10 – to relive the highlights of our spectacular performance and enjoy some snacks
