    Hi folks!

Next BUG jam is Wednesday, November 16, 2011! Theme: BUG Songbook

Right now our go-to books are the Wukulele Songbooks. There's been talk about creating a BUG songbook - compiling all of our favourite songs that we enjoy playing the most - the ones that really SIZZLE when we play them together! That way, when called upon to share our music with others, we'll have a set of songs, that we've practiced and that work well with the group, all ready to go!

What songs have we played in the last 2 years that you think should be in our songbook? Some of the categories you might want to think about are songs for: general audience, young children/family, seniors, holidays, high school/university crowd. You can look through our All Songs page, through all the songbooks on the Songbook page, or you can introduce a new song to the group that we haven't tried yet that you think would be great to have in a BUG Songbook.

I've attached a spreadsheet below of all the songs that we have available to BUG - in other words, we've likely sung them in the past 2 years and they've been printed out and are ready to go! There are 6 sheets in this file. If you look at the Master list, you'll see all of of the songs. Check it out and pick a favourite!

Just send an email through our BUG Google group with your song choice, or if you want to suggest a new song, you can post the song yourself - just follow the instructions you find on the Help category under BUG media.

    Also STRUMS!

Bryan has offered to demonstrate and teach us all the triplet strum at the next meeting. If anyone else has a neat strum that they could demonstrate and teach the rest of us that would be great!

    See you soon my friends!

    Sue

Sue and Mark,

Thank you so much for planning and arranging our wonderful evening at the OFL concert last night. I saw the video and we were wonderful!

As I mentioned last night at the "Gelato Jazz after show get together"; I recently took a course on Guitar/Bass/ (Ukulele) set-ups and maintenance. As a gift to all members I will offer my services after the BUG jams (Nov and Dec) to restring member's ukuleles, clean and re-oil the finger boards and give general advise about optimal ukulele set-ups. Members must supply the correctly sized strings for their ukulele, (if you don't know, bring your ukulele to the Ottawa Folklore Centre and ask for new strings). I can also lubricate nuts and tuning gears with "Nut SauceĀ®", this stuff is expensive so I would have to charge a minimal material's fee (usually about one dollar/ukulele). First come, first served, and of course glueing Ukuleles back together again costs $1.99 (for the superglue). And of course all the usual disclaimers, its free, no guarantees!

Also, any one who wants to make a "shaker", just bring a medium sized plastic medicine bottle (10-14 cm long, 15-18 cm around, with locking top!) and I will bring the glass beads to put in them.
