Come on out and join us! And if it's over 30°C, no worries - we'll play inside the community centre!
BUGs for the 5th year in a row, will once again be entertaining southern Ottawa residents and visitors on Canada Day in Vernon this July 1st from 2:00-4:00pm! Joining Mark and Sue and the BUG group under the big tent are the VUPs (Vernon Ukulele Players), the UKES (Ukulele Kemptville Enthusiasts), and ukers from other area groups all playing together! Beginners are more than welcome!
After playing, we can support the Vernon Community Association's BBQ by purchasing a hamburger or hot dog and having dinner together.
After dinner, if it's not raining, BUGS are invited to stroll just up the road to Sharon's place for a cool brew and junk food/munchies (I'll put a box of beer on ice, but please BYOB). Bring your bathing suit for a cool swim at Brian's if you like. At dusk, we'll head back down to the community centre to watch the impressive fireworks display. We've had a great time these past four years, and the audience loves us!
RAIN OR SHINE! If it's raining and/or over 30°C, we'll be INSIDE the community centre.
WHERE: Vernon Community Centre, 7950 Lawrence Street. Just a 20 minute drive south of Hunt Club via Bank Street. Once you enter Vernon, turn left at the flashing yellow light. The community centre is just down the road on the right-hand side.
JAM TIME: 2 - 4 (please try to arrive by 1:30 for set-up)
PLAYLIST: Posted above (subject to change) - we'll be handing out our BUG Event song list to audience members and letting them request songs. Download the BUG Event PDF to a tablet if you'd like to practise. We'll bring binders with us to the event. We'll also be adding some extra songs from our Canadian song list like Canada Day Up Canada Way, In Canada, I Am Cow, and others. Check back here as we get closer to the day of the event.
WHAT TO BRING:
- comfortable chair
- music stand
- clothespegs or clips to keep the song pages from flipping in the wind
- ukulele, tuner (and kazoo)
- BUG t-shirt, if you have one, or anything else that suits your fancy for Canada Day (as in red, eh!)
- bug spray (if desired, for the evening hours)
- BYOB for Sharon's party
- bathing suit/towel if you'd like to swim
HOPE TO SEE YOU IN VERNON ON CANADA DAY!
