We've been invited to jam at The Glebe Centre! The residents and staff are really looking forward to singing along with the BUGs! Evidently it will be quite a different experience for them!
And it's going to be a little different for us too! At the request of the Music Therapist, we're going to have a few ukers at the front, and the rest of the ukers will sit in amongst the residents - bringing the music right up close and personal!
Space for this event is limited to 20, so you must email Sue Rogers if you'd like to participate. Once spaces are filled, a waiting list will be created.
Mark and I will bring the BUG event binders with us with a selection of great songs! If you use your iPad or other tablet you're welcome to use it instead, as long as you've uploaded the most recent version of the BUG Event Songbook PDF (plus any additional songs we may post above for a particular event). A YouTube playlist of all the songs is posted below so you can familiarize yourself with any songs you don't know.
WHERE: The Glebe Centre - Long Term Care, 77 Monk Street, Ottawa The main entrance doors for The Glebe Centre are on Monk St. Elevators are to the right of the main door, and the Gather Place (which is where we'll be performing) is on the second floor. It’s the big room right in front of the elevators.
WHEN: Sunday, April 7, 2019
TIME: 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 (please be in the room between 1:30 - 1:45 to set up your stands, put away your coats and cases, and get settled)
PARKING: There will be limited space in the parking lot at the Abbotsford House at 950 Bank Street (about 7-8 spaces, plus 1 handicap spot), so it would be ideal if some of you could carpool. Abbotsford House is the big stone house across the street from Whole Foods. The parking lot will be cleared and blocked off. A volunteer will be standing by around 1:15 to move the barricade so only BUG volunteers will have access to those spaces. For those who are more able-bodied, I've been told there is 2 hour street parking available very close to the front entrance on the side streets (Woodlawn Ave., Oakland Ave. and Holmwood Ave.) Additionally, there’s paid parking across Bank St. at Lansdowne TD Place - if people park there, they can follow the same sidewalk route (listed below) to get into the building.
From Bank street, there's a sidewalk that leads in between the Abbotsford House and the Glebe Centre. Follow the sidewalk and it comes out at Monk St. Turn left on the sidewalk, and continue until you see the main entrance doors (there’s a ramp and stairs). Elevators are to the right of the main door, and the Gather Place (the performance space) is on the second floor. It’s the big room right in front of the elevators.
