The Ottawa Folk Festival starts this week! And there are two major ukulele activities, free to the public, that will be happening on Sunday, September 9th! So head on over to Hog's Back Park with your ukuleles!
1:00 PM uke workshop - Joel Jacques will be leading an instructional, hands-on ukulele workshop for beginner and intermediate ukers at 1:00 PM. If you're at the festival at that time, help would be appreciated for tuning loaner ukes and helping beginners with chord fingerings.
4 - 5:30 PM BUG JAM - BUG (that's you guys!) will lead a ukulele jam from 4:00 to 5:30 PM in the Jam Tent. The more BUGs that come out, the more fun we'll have and the better we'll sound! You can check out Meredith's invite to all of you attached below. We've been told the jam tent will be located near the instrument lock-up.
This will be the 3rd year in a row for BUG participation! Beginners - please don't hesitate to come out - it's a whole lot of fun! We’ll bring all the binders loaded up with easy songs to choose from - all you need to bring is your uke, music stand to hold a binder (if you wish), tuner and amazing enthusiasm! Some plastic folding chairs will be available in the jam tent but we encourage you to bring along your own folding chair if you want to be guaranteed a seat.
Below is a list of the songs we'll bring, all of which can be found on this website (We Are Gonna Be Friends and Bye Bye Love are in the Wukulele Songbook # 3, pages 7 and 10 respectively).
There is a free instrument lock-up where you can store your ukuleles if you wish while you enjoy some of the other activities.
