"Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying" was first recorded and issued as a single by Louise Cordet in February 1964.  Shortly after Cordet's version failed to chart, the song was released by the songwriters, Gerry and The Pacemakers themselves, and released in April 1964. The group enjoyed some success in North America as part of the British Invasion with seven of their singles reaching the US top 40, the most popular being "Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying". This song remains one of their best known singles.
